Decentralized Finance (DeFi) refers to the permissionless, peer-to-peer, and transparent financial systems built on public blockchains like Ethereum.

2020 was THE year of DeFi. The total value locked in DeFi has gone from less than 1 Billion dollars to touching $23B+ in just a matter of a few months.

With all the innovation happening in this space at such a fast pace, it becomes quite overwhelming to keep up with all this. New protocols are getting announced every other day each with new yield farming opportunities. And for users that are just entering into crypto, it becomes difficult for them to grasp all this at once.

For that, I am listing the following youtube channels (in no particular order) that would be helpful in understanding DeFi and its various protocols:

1. Finematics

Channel link:  https://www.youtube.com/c/Finematics/

They offer great educational content in the form of whiteboard videos that explain various terminologies and working of protocols associated with DeFi.

2. DeFi Tutorials with DeFi Dad

This is the best place to get hands-on knowledge on how to actually interact with the various DeFi Applications. If you are a complete beginner and want to know how to provide liquidity to Curve, buy insurance for DeFi, or use Zapper.fi, DeFi Dad is here to guide you through each step.

These are very beginner-friendly and goes into little details like how does approval of tokens work, how to use Metamask with dapps as well as the risks associated with using the different protocols.

6. DeFi Weekly

This is a channel by Kerman Kohli ($KERMAN) that goes into much more detail into the working of protocols, which I think is a must for the users to know how their money is being handled before depositing it into smart contracts.

7. Chris Blec on DeFi

The videos are for a less-techy audience, so if you are just stepping into DeFi then they are a good place to start.

Note: Chris had paused posting videos for the past 5 months (when most of the DeFi bull run took place) so some older content might be outdated. But he’s back now with the live streams!
